Forming Alliances That Lead To Bigger And Better Results

The biggest weakness you can ever have as a dreamer is the inability to develop strategic/productive relationships.

Pursuing success alone is fine, but when you can tap into the energy and effort of like-minded people… you can get to success a lot faster.

Not only that, you can get to a much greater form of success than the kind you get when you work alone.

Now, obviously, this is easier said than done. Forming alliances with people who are just as determined or just skilled as you are is anything but easy. Especially when you are far into your pursuit.

However, that is a challenge worth working on.

Especially because, it’s less about two people being PERFECTLY aligned in views and more about who is willing to make the first move and propose a MEANINGFUL alliance.

I highlight the word "meaningful" because you must always make a proposal that benefits the other member as much as it would benefit you. In some cases, you might want it to benefit them more.

Which shouldn’t be a problem if the pie is going to be larger at the end of the day.

Now… let’s talk about when you should consider forming alliances with others.

Because the timing is also important in ensuring that the alliances being formed… won't be a waste of time for the parties involved.

Forming alliances before you have a plan or product is really risky.

Risky in the sense that, it could go absolutely nowhere.

When I talk about a plan, I’m talking about having a business plan or something similar. Something concrete. Something that states a goal/vision and also states just how to get to that goal. It does not need to be perfect. But it does have to be clear, practical, and worth pursuing.

When I talk about the product, I mean an actual product, a service, money, skill-set, or some form of energy ready to be put to productive use.

If you don’t have a plan and don’t have a product, what do you create when you ask people to join you… is a social media group.

I don’t know about you, but I am willing to bet that the number of WhatsApp groups that have attained massive success (as a group)… is few in number.

In my experience, the best time to form alliances is when every party has had at least some significant experience in pursuing goals alone… or with others.

This way, you bring to the table something that is worth a king’s ransom… experience.

When two or more skilled and experienced people come together… provided they can get to a middle ground where both are aligned on a common and much larger goal… something massive can be created.

Stories of companies or skilled professionals coming together… are very common.

And usually, these alliances produce a “third” entity that grows larger than what the individuals would have accomplished alone.

Two things to consider when thinking about approaching someone to be a member of your alliance are:

1) What benefit do they get from this alliance (both short and long term)

2) What is my contribution to the alliance

Again, this may seem difficult, but it’s an important challenge to learn to overcome. There’s only such progress you can make on your own.

Nothing comes easy for the dreamer.

I was going to list a couple of examples of pair-ups that result in interesting combinations, but I later decided not to.

If you are interested in this topic, you can most certainly find your own time to research it. If you would like to know my thoughts on a particular combination, then you can always reach out to me.

At the end of the day… I think it’s really worth it to create connections with people who are in the same line of work you are in. Which is to pursue and conquer dreams. If you can find a way to reach some of these people… you open yourself up to an ocean of opportunities.

Just remember to not be self-centered when you decide to make your approach.

No one exists to make your dreams a reality.

They have their own goals and are usually comfortable pursuing them in the best way they know-how.
